2009: More Metal Than Ever

Things got a bit hectic on New Year's Eve...
Thanksfully that’s not me up above (word up, Riddles) but one of the Reading Legion of Doom (aka my surviving teenage-years friends) feeling the full force of a beast of a New Year’s Eve party. I don’t die so easily. It was fun to roll back to the hometown and catch up with all the faces I haven’t seen since…well…last Christmas, but
While everyone else was off eating their fat guts full of turkey and sloshing it down with all the booze they could get their goose fat greasy palms on, I was working my balls off. On this little lot:
INTERVIEWING…Turbowolf (again), Five Finger Death Punch, and Architects, all for pieces going up on Thrash Hits before the month is out.
VIDEOING…this interview with Tom Lacey from The Ghost Of A Thousand, backstage before the London show of their Thrash Hits-sponsored December tour. Then…
WATCHING…them tear the living fuck out of The Borderline. Kickass band, kickass gig.
SPEAKING OF VIDEO INTERVIEWS…I didn’t film this interview with Municipal Waste, but I sure as shit edited this badboy together:
REVIEWING…Hollow Crown by the aforementioned Architects (review coming this week – it’s great) and the new one from Napalm Death, Time Waits For No Slave (verdict next week).
COMPILING…a brief (and very late) end-of-year retrospective for Music Towers. And my part in yet another end-of-year retrospective, this time for 2000AD Review.
CONTRIBUTING…to the Thrash Hits album previews for 2009. Hint: if the band’s name starts with a letter in the second half of the alphabet, it’s a good chance it’s one of mine.
PLOTTING…not one but two new gig/club nights out in East London ways. One full-on metal, one a bit more HypnoCops-ish.
INDULGING…in some serious Spotifying. Collaborative Playlist + Upcoming Houseparty = Music Sorted!
